 Kathy held C-Suite level positions at publicly-traded firms and partnerships - Aetna, PwC and FARO - in sales and operations.  Operations included Risk Management, Crisis Response and Security.  With her variety of experiences, she offers a unique perspective on Governance for firms, startups and nonprofits.


She is currently President of Harvard Business School Women's Association of NY, Trustee on the University of Rochester Board, Board Member at the Daily Gazette (a Schenectady family-owned publishing firm), Advisor to TempBuddy (SaaS enterprise software for managing temp employees), Chair of Executive Forum, Founder of Executive Forum Angels and Fellow at the Foreign Policy Association. Kathy received a BA in Math and General Science from the University of Rochester and the Advanced Management Program Degree from Harvard Business School.  

Charles J. Manzo

Casualty Claim Expertise, Workers’ Compensation Specialist

Charles brings over 35 years of diversified Claim and Claim Management experience.  He served over 17 years with the Home Insurance Company and was instrumental in designing and implementing a total Managed Care Program in his role as National Director of Claim Services.
 

He served for 5 years as Northeast Regional Vice President for CorVel Corporation, a national Managed Care Company, and led the creation and development of CorVel’s Preferred Provider Organization certification in New York State.

Charles was President of Medical Expense Management, a successful Independent Medical Examination company he started and headed for 10 years before taking on the role of Senior Vice President of Claims for Majestic Insurance Company.

He graduated from Butler University with a BA degree.  He has Casualty Claim Law Associates Degree.

Karen Gordon, Esq.

Karen has over 20 years of insurance brokerage,   corporate governance, product development, compliance, and risk management consulting experience.

Karen has held senior executive and managerial positions with Sedgwick Insurance Brokerage, Johnson & Higgins, ACE Insurance Group and XL Group.  As founder and Managing Director of Bydand Risk Management Solutions, she marries her legal training and experience at Hughes Hubbard & Reed, a Wall Street law firm, with her extensive insurance background to provide comprehensive solutions to client.

Karen earned her B.A. (Hons), Oxon and M.A. (Hons), Oxon degrees from Oxford University’s Honour School of Jurisprudence in England.  She holds an undergraduate degree in Government and Psychology from Cornell University.  Karen is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) and continues to chair and speak at events for PLUS.  .

Frank Mastroianni
Casualty Loss Control, Ergonomics, Safety and Training Services

Frank has over 40 years experience in casualty loss control, safety engineering and ergonomics having worked at Marsh McLennan, Johnson & Higgins, Memorial Sloan-Kettering and American Mutual Insurance Company. He specializes in the following industries:  Financial Services, Retail, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Chemical, Technology and Transportation Industries.

Frank works toward achieving regulatory compliance and preventing casualty claims, such as, Workers Compensation, General Liability, Product Liability and Auto Liability.  He provides guidance, technical advice and assistance at the corporate and local levels of clients.  His work involves teaching safety management methods, providing training and conducting audits. 

In addition, he works with his clients and their insurance carriers’ staff of underwriters, safety consultants and claim consultants.   Frank is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College.

Michael Long

Michael has over 30 years experience in the retail industry as a corporate investigator, forensic auditor and trainer. He has successfully resolved thousands of investigative issues ranging from petty larceny cases up to multi-million dollar, large-scale interstate theft operations.


He specializes in reducing inventory losses by uncovering embedded theft and fraud via data analysis. Michael also specializes in the analysis of complex supply chain processes to identify operational deficiencies and /or points of compromise that result in product inventory losses or inventory accuracy distortion. 

Additionally, Michael has a strong track record of reducing workplace accident claims by establishing employee awareness programs and various emergency response protocols.  Michael's professional accomplishments have earned him numerous awards for investigative, shortage management and safety performance. Michael is also a published writer, public speaker and has managed a non-profit humanitarian aid organization for children.

Barbara Meister Cummins Esq

Barbara has worked in the employment/labor arena for over 27 years, and has almost 20 years of corporate experience through BMC Management Resources, Young & Rubicam Inc. and Young & Rubicam Advertising in the General Counsel’s office and as Chief Legal Counsel, and Inland Steel’s Labor Relations Department.  Ms. Cummins has a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and an A.B. in Mathematics from Dartmouth College.  This broad base of experience ensures practical solutions-oriented advice and training for employers in today’s uncertain economic times. 

Consultation covers the full range of employment issues, including interviewing and hiring techniques; advice regarding employment vs. contracting of services; and the creation and/or updating of handbooks and workplace policies which are both user friendly and compliant. 


In addition, she provides practical consult regarding retention strategies, performance evaluation techniques, progressive discipline, employment termination and all aspects of Reductions in Force, from strategy, selection techniques, appropriate packages to communications and execution.

James M. Niwinski CPA, President & Founder

Jim is the President and founder of Strategic Risk USA, Inc. and has over 30+ years experience in insurance brokerage, risk management, tax/finance and internal audit. 


Prior to launching Strategic Risk USA, he worked for Marsh Inc. where he was a Managing Director and held various managerial and leadership positions including; Senior Client Executive, Global Unit Manager and Business Development Director.  He also developed and implemented two industry practices – Financial/Professional Industry Practice and Advertising/Media Industry Practice. Before joining Marsh, he held positions as Director of Risk Management and Tax at Young & Rubicam, Inc. one of the largest global advertising/public relation firms and Risk Manager at Prudential Insurance Company.


Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from LaSalle University and is a certified public accountant.  He is a member of the AICPA and New Jersey Society of CPAs, and a licensed insurance broker (P&C; Life/A&H) in 40+ states.  He is accomplished at developing industry-leading teams and strategic planning with expertise in: Insurance Brokerage; Enterprise and Operational Risk Management; and Financial/Operational Efficiency Audits. 


His broad risk management experience has enabled him to successfully assist clients, both mid-sized and fortune 500 corporations, in developing and implementing industry leading risk management programs, mergers/acquisitions/divestitures due diligence, alternative risk products, captive insurance companies, contract review/analysis, risk identification, policy analysis and numerous other cost of risk reduction processes.

Mike worked as a commercial liability underwriter for New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company.  Prior to NJM, he worked as a financial professional for Prudential Insurance involved in client assessments - he also and interned at Coty Inc. in the Risk Management Department assisting in claims, insurance renewals and corporate security.  Mike is a graduate from Cairn University where he earned is B.S. degree in Business Administration. 


Mike is a licensed Property & Casualty as well as Life, Accident & Health.  He is an ARM candidate and is studying Six Sigma.

Barry Wm Hess

Property Loss Control

Barry has spent 38 years in the field of mechanical engineering specializing in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.  He has been involved in the multi aspects of loss control and mitigation.  Barry worked as the Operations Director of Nucleonics Inc. and Cell Pathways Inc.  In addition, he maintains a strong working relationship with the FDA, United States Customs and the United States Department of Agriculture. Barry is a graduate of Drexel University.


Michael Delahanty

Corporate Security Assessments

Mike is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and has spent the past 20+ years in law enforcement where he has been assigned as: a trainer in the department’s Police Academy; detective bureau; Narcotics Task Force and Internal Affairs Division, as well as other areas of security and law enforcement. 


In addition, Michael served on the department's Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) Team as an Assaulter/Breacher where his duties included making entries into barricaded structures, raiding narcotics distribution houses and hostage rescue.  Since 2007, Michael has been a trainer in Krav Maga and Israeli defensive tactics system known for its quick effectiveness and unarmed weapons defenses.
